Considerable interest was expressed by professional sculptors throughout the UK in the Bamse project from which a short list of ten was selected.
The panel was chaired by Dr Tony Sutton, with Dr James Morrison, artist; Dr Alastair Ross, sculptor, Norman Atkinson, Director of Cultural Services, Angus Council, and Ben Tindall, architect.
After careful consideration of the submissions and samples presented the clear choice was Alan Herriot, a sculptor with extensive experience of large works for public spaces.
Alan is based at Howgate, just outside Edinburgh, Scotland, and has been a professional artist since he graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1974.
He is also an accomplished painter with works in private collections around the world.
