Installation of the Statue

Crane lowers the statue to its place in Montrose

The delivery to the site of the four ton granite base, the statue from the Powderhall Foundry in Edinburgh, and a crane suitable for lifting the two items into place was brilliantly coordinated by sculptor Alan Herriot.

It was a very exciting moment for those involved in the project, and that all went so smoothly during the couple of hours required for the whole operation is testament to the technical skills of the installers.
